CHK
Nutrition started by selling 5-HTP (5HTP or
L-5-HTP) tyrosine, and L-dopa (mucuna
source, not faba bean source) formulas to
medical clinics who were having trouble
finding consistent quality in the products
they were buying in local stores. Some
clinics were experiencing problems with
5-HTP (5HTP or L-5-HTP) obtained in local
stores. In some cases 90% of the 5-HTP (5HTP
or L-5-HTP) products bought in local stores
did not work in clinical applications. |
|
|
Other
concerns that arose from clinics attempting
to obtain properly balanced 5-HTP (5HTP or
L-5-HTP), tyrosine, and L-dopa (mucuna, not
faba bean sourced). The problem being if
only 5-HTP or improperly balanced 5-HTP is
given it will deplete of dopamine. On the
other hand if only tyrosine and/or L-dopa is
taken or improperly balanced tyrosine and/or
L-dopa is taken it will deplete of
serotonin. |
|
|
The peer
reviewed medical literature found on this
web site (see the "neurotransmitter
chemistry" link) is clear, using only 5-HTP
or L-dopa depletes dopamine and serotonin
respectively. When the depletion is severe
enough any effects seen with the use of only
5-HTP or L-dopa will quit. Yet every day
caregivers use only 5-HTP and L-dopa or
people taken these things on their own take
only 5-HTP, L-dopa, or tyrosine never
realizing the problems associated with doing
so. The key is taking proper amounts of
5-HTP in combination with L-tyrosine (not
N-acetyl-tyrosine) and L-dopa so that
optimal results are obtained and depletion
of serotonin or dopamine is prevented. |
